Welcome to the Mobility 2040 webpage!

Public input is crucial to successful transportation planning. With that thought in mind, the MPO recently completed its first round of public meetings for the next long range transportation plan, Mobility 2040. In all, eight physical public meetings were conducted between September 23rd and October 3rd – five in Bexar County and one each in New Braunfels, Seguin and Boerne. Additionally, two virtual meetings were conducted, one in conjunction with the Leon Valley meeting and one stand-alone session on October 7th.

Across the board, each of the meetings’ attendees recognized the regional growth and congestion problems inherent in the population and employment forecasts for 2040. Using State Data Center information, the MPO expects another 1.5 million people by 2040 – about a million in Bexar County and a another half million in Guadalupe, Comal and Kendall Counties.

MPO and partner agency staff and consultants were impressed with the high degree of interest and passion of those who participated in the meetings. There will be two more rounds of public meetings for Mobility 2040, the next in spring of 2014 and a draft final plan offered in the fall of 2014.

Meanwhile, if you missed all of the first round opportunities to express your wishes or concerns, please click on the “Submit an Idea” tab in the upper left corner of this page.
